Straits Quay Is The Supporting Event Partner For Penang World Music Festival 2012

Straits Quay is the latest inclusion to the organizing team of the Penang World Music Festival 2012 when it signed up as the Supporting Event Partner (SEP) to the festival.

Being the SEP, Straits Quay will be the venue for the welcoming dinner and preview show. Both events will take place on March 29, 2012.  The welcoming dinner will be attended by all the performing bands and the media, including those invited from overseas.

The announcement of Straits Quay as the SEP to the festival is made by the Exco of the Penang State Minister for Tourism Development and Culture Yang Berhormat Encik Danny Law Heng Kiang at a media event here today.

The Penang World Music Festival 2012 is organised by Penang’s State Tourism Development and Culture Office together with UCSI Communications Sdn Bhd, an Event Management Consultant.

It will be held from March 30 to April 1 next year at the picturesque Quarry Recreational Park, Botanic Gardens. Promised to be an exciting event in the Penang tourism calendar, the festival will features international acts with musicians from various countries confirming their participation. Among them are from Australia, India, China, Korea, Africa, Russia as well as local Malaysian bands.

Various attractive programs have already been lined up for this open-air festival and they include music workshops, Kidz World workshop, festival bazaar and night concerts. The music workshop will be held from 2pm onwards while the festival bazaar will start from noon during the three days of the festival. The night concert is starting at 7pm.

Tickets to the festival are now available online at www.ticketxpress.com.my and are priced at RM90.00 per day for adults and RM45.00 for children aged five to 12 years old. Three- day passes are also available and are priced at RM220 each for adults and RM120 for children.

Hard Rock Hotel Penang is the official hotel for the festival while Discovery Overland Holidays is the official tour operator. The organizing of the festival is also supported by KDU College, Penang Campus, Penang Global Tourism and Virtual Malaysia. KDU College will assist with providing the more than 100 volunteers needed to run the festival while Virtual Malaysia will provide the IT support.
